I think this can be bug and that's the reason why i am putting this up here.

when i use 2 bookcases and 5 scarfaces with 2 pumpkins,my max nrv is upto 78.

And by using 10 "self-defensive books",i should have 83 i suppose,if my calculations are right.

1 self def.books give 1 % nrv,so 10 should give 10% of it i think and for lvl 12 it shoud give 10% of 48 or something..

=4.8, but iam not gaining a single nrv by using all 10 of them..the nrv is still at 78.

what should i do to this for getting it ? it's kind of bug or what ? or is there any kind of max nrv fixed besides these amenities ??

i am just not getting anything from them besides that +5% def.from each of them..nrv part is 0.

percentage depend upon your base nrv,  also it round it up, it should be 5, if your base is 48, but if your base is 44, then you will get 4... recalculate it

stack of books won't work for nerve until you have 50 base nerve, i think... when 1% of it is 0,5 and higher, that will add 1 extra nerve point, you shouldn't calculate 10*1%*48...  items work apart from each other, so at level 13 when you get 50+ base nerve you'll get 1 nerve for every stack of books, jagan ;-)
