Hello,
How come when both the dealer and I have say 18 we push, getting my money back but when we both hit 21 the dealer somehow wins?

....the dealer hates you...but actually I think that's a good question, I believe that should be a push too, only way to win 21 right off the bat is if you start with 21. But if you get 21, and then the dealer gets 21, that is a push

Pay attention to how you get 21. As per normal blackjack rules, if you have a normal 21 (like 3+8+10), and the dealer has a black jack (A+10), then the dealer wins. You get this same advantage.
It should push if both of you have a normal 21, or if both of you have blackjack though.
Do you happen to remember if this was the case when you played?

You should be able to have the option to attack the dealer once he has taken all of your money.

Suicide...Only bet half of what you have, never hit on a 17, if you have a soft 16 (small numbers) then hit.
