OBAMA's 2nd TERM Discussion Thread
hokiefani was going to say... lol. still, fucked up shit goes on over there. i'm sure you've seen the videos of the people crying hysterically over the death of Kim Jong Ill, for fear of being put to death for not feeling sorrowful enough. this is why we have the 2nd amendment, not to hunt, but to protect our nation from being overthrown by an overreaching government, and keep us from turning into something that resembles NK.
wormdogg10You think people out fresh out of college are going straight in to their field? I suggest you read up on the matter. Not to mention most people who make minimum wage work harder then most people everyday. They also run the risk of losing their job faster then others. $9 an hour isnt to much to ask for.
wormdogg10no personal accountability anymore, according to worm. folks can make all the stupid decisions they want, knowing obama has their back and will pick up the tab.
So when the economy crashed and all the people were out of work with their degrees in their hand it was by choice. See thats the problem you people think anybody who isnt "like" you just made shitty decisions with their life. Not to mention everyone cant just go to college some people have to take of their family and work. Or they can go out and do the wrong thing and sell drugs, or rob and steal (which they would get much more then minimum wage). Those are the things you should think about when you go to Starbucks, or any restaurant and you treat these minimum wage workers as sub-humans because they work for scraps and get treated like garbage all day and they give you that "special sauce" or "extra foam"aka spit!
I agree 9 dollars and hour isnt to much to pay in canada its 10.25 an hour but thats not a living wage in my opion hell even 20 an hour is just getting by if you want to live a comfortable middle class life
hokiefanpeople who work hard and pick a real degree that is in demand, won't have trouble. those who go to school, fuck off and get a 2.0 while studying theater or something that is not practical, and i don't feel like we're accountable for their decisions. can we agree on that point at least?
being in the real world and seeing what is coming out of college these days, i'm really not impressed, a bunch of no-good i'm the cream of the fucking crop and won every participation award out there folks that aren't good for anything and don't know what to do when they're told they aren't doing a good job and not succeeding. it's kind of sad.

ever done a job search? there is a lot of good jobs out there, problem is there is a lot of shitty people out there that could hardly push a mop correctly. hard to find good people. i dont go to starbucks, waste of money, i don't even drink coffee, $3-5 per day that can go towards something else that is necessary, like savings account or retirement fund. if i go to a restaurant and have a server that does an outstanding job, i always tip 20-25%, because they're hustling. i respect hard work.
hokiefanis it a "right" to live comfortably? should everyone be afforded a cushy middle class lifestyle?

So your saying that getting higher education means they will still fail and $7.50 an hour is good enough for someone with a college degree? Didnt you just say that people should better them selves to get a better job? So then does that mean you are for or against Obama wanting better education for our youth and that that will lead us back to where we once were by being able to do things here instead of abroad?

No every one should live in poverty even the ones you just said graduated from college and still work for a Big Mac meal per hour!

Have you ever done a job search? I highly doubt it. Not only have I, but I also have to hire and fire people all the time. And its usually not because they are "shitty workers" but because of corporate issues. And the point of Starbucks and restaurant workers is the fact that you look down on them as peons because they work minimum wage jobs and you have no idea of their story or why they are their. You see a waiter not a guy who went to college and cant get a job because of a bad economy so hes waiting tables to pay back his student loans. The person who doesnt have your complete attention at the (enter where ever the fuck you go) because they were up all night studying so they can get a degree. And they're also thinking about HTF they're gonna pay back the $60,000 they owe on those loans if they get stuck at a minimum wage job.
Dude you seriously live in a bubble. Where you think everything is hunky dorry because you have your job. But you do realize that someone can walk in tomorrow and gather and inform all of you that they're shutting down in 2 weeks.Or that someone fresh out of college can come in and do your job for less! And since you are so much against "entitlements"(which you've paid into all your working life) your not going to take unemployment right? So if no one is hiring for what you do or you dont have a recent degree(since you always have to be learning, ask a teacher). Then what job will you take and how much do you want to get paid for it?
