PC vs MAC: Epic Battle!
ya the virus doesnt do the physical damage i do that part and ya i could get it fixed but theres nothing like a new computer/laptop when the last met the bat/wall/street
Good point good point.
Damn you Tommy! lol, I built every computer Ive had, plus many for friends. Total is 17. I assume you used thermal paste? Everybody forgets to do that. Then they wonder why their CPU is idling at 60C...
Current Comp:
Thermaltake Armor+ case
Intel Core i7 920 (2.66Ghz)
ASUS P6T SE mobo
BFG NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 (1Gb vRAM, 700Mhz core clock)
GSkill 6Gbs 2000Mhz RAM (9-9-9-20)
Silverstone 850W Modular PSU
4 Tbs memory split among 5 WD hard drives
Hmm...I cant argue, though. Theres nobody to argue against yet. Gabzo needs to start his arguments against me. Or maybe some other mac guy. Ill keep it civilized, I promise.

and now a days as soon as you get your new computer theres a better one that comes out as soon as you get yours out of the box to prove my point.......youtube
Lol
Computers last if you make them yourself. OEM comps are crap because they always put the cheapest stuff possible. How many OEM companies tell you what mobo you are getting, or your ram speed, or your power supply, or your cpu cooler, or your case airflow averages, or your graphics card details? I built mine 6 months ago and it is still on top. No, the graphics card isnt the best, but it wasnt back then either. Just went from number 2 slot to number 3.
Anywho...
PC owns if only for the fact that you arnt tied to a company as horrible as Apple. Yes, Microsoft is a horrible company. With that said, if Microsoft is a 2, Apple is a -20. Thats a fact.
Why is it a fact? Propriety software. It happens when a company believes giving out its source code would damage its market value. On a usual basis, this is limited to specific programs. Apple takes it a step farther by making a proprietary file format and software for EVERYTHING! .mov? .aac? .uif? .toast?! WTF is toast?! Fk toast. Why is it that Apple made two formats for a file type that already has a standard? ISO is the standard disc image format.
In their defense, there are a bunch of image formats that are PC exclusive, like mdf. But those are made by third party software companies and are generally completely compatible with ISO format (ie conversion is easy). I dare you to try and convert a toast file to ISO.
As for the internet browser, I would agree with Gabzo back in the WinXP days when IE6 was the standard. IE6 was a blight on humanity. Everything was better than it. Now that IE7 and IE8 are out, that is no longer the case. They are much more secure, they are much more compatible with current web code formats like HTML5 and JavaScript (actually, I dont think IE7 is HTML5 compatible). And yet, both IE8 and Safari are blown away by Firefox and Chrome, the former of which has been my web browser choice for years. They offer nice features like addon support in its entirety. Try installing a NoScript addon ripoff on Safari and IE8...
Im gunna stop now cause I could very well write a book...
EDIT: I forgot to make the connection between Apple's billion closed source formats and their closed source hardware. Get Leopard working on a Windows or Linux box and let me know how it goes...

Well put, Darth!
My build:
Antec 300 case
Wolfdale E8500 (dual core, stock 3.16ghz, clocked at 3.8. these processors are champs)
Gigabyte motherboard
GeForce 9800GTX+ (the grandmaster pimp of the -thousand series imo)
4 GB Corsair RAM 5-5-5-18 (admittedly, I know nothing of RAM timings, but it's dual channel)
750W Corsair power supply
640 GB hard drive
I built my computer with the idea to expand later. I'm basically in the same boat as you, where it wasn't top-of-the-line when I built it. But it was very cheap, and I can still run everything at max graphical settings and only the most taxing of games can get it down to 20 frames a second.
Most of the parts were purchased because they happened to be on sale and were compatible with other parts. The mobo is SLI compatible, although I'd probably just get a new graphics card instead of a second one. It's got support for 16GB ram (currently have 4GB) and it's quad-core compatible. So plenty of head room, assuming my motherboard doesn't die on me. It's pushing two years old now, so it's time to upgrade soon.
EDIT: I did use thermal paste (Arctic Silver 5, on a Xigmatek 120MM Rifle CPU Cooler). Under heavy load, it usually doesn't go too far past 52ºC. I've got a lot of fans though, the case I bought has nice cooling options. It sounds like a god damn jet when it boots though.

Gigabyte makes some awesome mobos, and they last a long time. They are my favorite company when it comes to mobos. Only reason I went ASUS for this one is cause Core i7 mobos (1366 socket) cost part of your soul and the ASUS was the cheapest available. Even still, it was more expensive than the highest AMD mobo...
Timing works kinda like latency. The lower your timings, the better. Your timing is pretty good for dual channel memory. The analogy I usually use is this: if your memory was a passenger train, the timing would be how fast the passengers can board the train while the clock speed is how fast the train runs. Each number in the timing table refers to a certain level of memory. I dont know many details past that. Usually, it is preferable to have a better timing and a lower clock than the other way around.
BTW, from a friend to another, dont do SLI or CrossFireX. They are NOT worth it. Buying a brand new card is always a better option than buying another lower end card to SLI or CrossFire.

As for me,i use Mac,but for protect my Mac i use firewall such as Protemac Netmine. What about viruses.it's helps me a lot.
I think people who make virus's are jackass all together.... I would shoot those russian freaks who are hacking pentagon... (I can say that cause im russian ((=)
