This is a prison, You have to make friends and trades to get ahead. Do crimes and search the yard. Also check out the wiki .. its a huge help when you first start.

im just sayin cuz i dont sit on the computer for hours at a time im on 1 or two hours a day

Was there a point when they didnt? This game is more of a "check when I check email" thing. Its mafia wars, only less commercial profiteering crap that eventually breaks the game due to inflation.
