Train HARD. Forget crimes and everything else. Train. Don't try to start a gang until atleast lvl 5. Don't piss anybody off, most importantly dont piss off the warden. You will get sent to isolation for being stupid. If you ask something in the forum, search first and make sure it isn't posted already. Use the Wiki, it's there for a reason. Don't beg for money, your time on here will be hell if you do. That should sum it up for the most part.
