Why don't you just stock up on eds and trade them for redbulls later? You're basically forming a plan on an assumption when it would be more effective to just stand on the other side.

for someone training in NJ, is it better to use a bag of coal, or sell for favors to buy other protected amenities and expand cell?

you should try expanding the cell and getting amenities that would raise your energy with a solid number first,just my opinion though.
