Picsssss!!!!

Time for some opinions ladies. I decided to keep it between us because men can be asses about things so i just want to know your opinions to this:

Do you give money to foundations, orgnanizations, and charities? Please state your opinion and why.

Hmm, I guess i'll start!

I am not so much about all sorts of charities... There is soo much, and they are all supposed to be helping, but I am very close to Ste-Justine's Hospital heart foundation. My daughter was born with a minor heart defect, and They were just so helpfull. And I know that there, my money really goes to research, as I witnessed it firsthand.

Yes i do... i have many ways i do it...

I sponsor a child.... in Uganda... have done for 6 years now... she is super cute... and clever.... i find this frustrating at times... because i know that a reasonable amount of the money that i pay doesn't go directly to the community ... but goes into admin and advertising to get other child sponsors... but... i can deal with that.... because... it is one way that I have raised my boy to aware about the world outside of New Zealand...

I have several groups that i will give money to... on their appeal days... and i choose these groups obviously because i support what they do.... but it is often more than that... how much i will give will relate to how much funding i am aware the government gives... and how likely it is that the general population will support them... for example.... organisations working with ex prison inmates... are less likily to get support than child cancer... both of these i support... but.... the ex inmate one... i will give more too...

the other thing that i do is give time.... i work at an organic, fair trade coffee shop... just a couple of hours a week... i could get paid... but choose not to... cause all profits from the coffee shop are invested back into the communities that provide the coffee and other products... so my 2 hours a week... unpaid... provides... away of giving back.... Plus... i also have another part of my work that i do unpaid... i was paid for it... when i was working at the org... but when i left... i choose to carry on with this part of it... because.... it was a gap that i identified... and i could support the work that way...

I have been given much in life... i am exceptionally greatful for all... and... i believe... we aren't just living in our own wee countries... that we are all connected by this mass under our feet... and therefore... there is a global responsibility for humanity... i can't change the world... but i can do... a small tiny part... to try and give back... for all that i have been given...

Well, She has a heart murmur, and last routine check at the hospital (9 months ago) They could not hear it anymore. Bt At the last routine visit to the pediatrician, (5 months ago), she could still heart it... So I am on the lit, to g get her checked again...

But believe me, ooking at her, you would NEVER know she is sick (she is dancing o the table, holding a handfull of chicken, singing "I'm one"

See there are select things I will donate to just because I personally don't believe that my money is going where it should. There are a couple of places I will and have donated to. Heart Disease because it runs in my family. Diabetes because it runs in my family very bad, both my parents and numerous family members have it and my aunt died from it among other things. Cure for Breast Cancer because a very close family friend has breast cancer and she fights everyday and she is one of the sweetest people I have ever had the priviledge of knowing. Red Cross I donate blood to. Occasionally I will go in and donate plasma. Reasons I don't do a lot of donating is because I don't think my money goes to all the right places. Some people look at me like I am a horrible person for that but I can't help but think that because when I do donate it's not in large amounts.
