dude u got this from another game lol

the breakdown here is exactly what's been mentioned. How do you reward people? Favors? Reward them based on what? Them reaching a certain level? Just chatting with them? It's not as clear cut as "hey, I'm a mentor! reward!"

Shouldn't be rewarded for this.. its volunteer work lol

Not that I'm against helping out noobies, i quite like answering Q's and sometimes randomly sending online NJ inmates cash. Cheapens the reasons for doing it if there's a system for rewards.

The reward is you get yourself a runner, an inmate that won't act like a tard.. or a friend.. if you're into that sort of thing.

the logistics of this seem really big... like... hmmmm we all been burnt by noobs.... when you given them amens and then they are dupes...

i mean a mentor isn't someone who just dishes out amens... it is about time... making them feel welcome... and supporting them to understand the game... lots of people don't have the patience for that... and imagine how many people there could be...

How would it be facilitated... would people just message you... i mean... i can picture it now... "hey baby... how do i crime... and oh hey can i nut in your face".... i guess that is a bit extreme... most people aren't like that.. but for some players who have been around a while you can become a bit jaded to these kind of messages or even just the hey how about some cash... hence many of them having friends only settings...

Forums have the potential to be jacked by assholes... so if you had a mentor forum... that could be taken..., and then how do you manage that...

I think mentoring is a brilliant idea... and i really like it...and yeah i would be happy to be involved... but there is some logistics that make me a bit fearful...

OMG... sorry for the essay

i disagree... depending on the level of imput that you put in and what your motivation for doing it is... i don't think just anyone can be a mentor... mentoring irl isn't about what you can get out of it other than the sense of alturism... it is actually about the needs of the other person... you make a commitment to support them to make their journey through stuff... in terms of a game... if you had say 10 people you were mentoring... that is potentially a lot of time that takes you away from game play... especially if you gonna coach them right... without any expectation of them giving in return.

I dont' think you should be rewarded with squillions but i do think some acknowledgement of the time that the person would put into the game... at an expense to their own game play would be nice...

edit: oh lord another long replay... sorry

The original idea was that the mentors (originally called mentors actually) would get a badge like the guards have. When users joined, they would get a random mentor. That user would go on the mentor's friends list and vice versa. An automated message would go out (that the mentor would customize) and all mentors would be listed on a staff page for easy access.

But again, the whole "tracking" how well u did thing was the crux.
