true. but my ip address is way different from being in my room and being in my living room. so would it not be noticed if the person just mover their laptop to a different room?

I was under the impression that was how they got caught.

in my room, the last 3 numbers are 157, but when i go into my kitchen, its 134

the last 3 numbers of your ip dont matter. you can change them sitting at the same location

the only way to get a different ip address is to go off another router in other words you have to have two different connections or more
