hmmm hey there... not sure if this will help but here we go anyway... it is a bit of an explanation about some of the words that are used around here... i am gonna break it down into sections so that it is easier to update if new words or things need to be refined as changes occur...

Please try and be respectful of the intention of the thread... it is to help new players understand what the hell we are talking about... if you don't agree about what is said then sure discuss it... but don't be an asshole.... plenty of other places to be assholes around here... *points to the prison yard*

Ps... thanks Steve for checking it over... and it is dumb that brought and bought sound the same here but have different meanings....  SMH

Sniping...

Sniping is the act of buying an item off the market that someone is intending to sell to someone else. As the only way to get an amenity to another player is over the market you run the risk of it being bought by someone else. Sometimes something is bought by accident, but often there is the purposeful intention of buying it to keep or to get money for it for returning it. Some people use the watchlist to keep an eye out for certain amenities that they are in need of and will snipe those, other people make their whole pb career out of sniping... these people get called Snipers...

Runner / Running ...

A runner is a person who carries drinks from one prison to another. Usually the process will start in either New Jersey or San Quentin. Money is sent from a person in another prison to the runner, who then goes and buys the requested items... they then take the order to the next prison and give them to the next runner... eventually the drinks get to the person who sent the money in the first place. Runners generally aim to have higher speed so that money can be sent to them while they are offline with less fear of being mugged. Most runners charge a fee, some just expect a tip where as others will expect a set amount per item. Also other players can be very protective of their runners... just a warning

"Dupe" vs "marked as a dupe"...

Often the word Dupe will be thrown at people as an insult.... so I have included this here to provide a bit of clarification... some people will legitimately be 'marked as dupes' ... hmmm say for example... like they have gone to their friends house and played before they realised that their friend would want to play.. so when their friend joins... they become marked as dupes... these two ... will be "marked as dupes"

Then there is the account that is a "dupe" i make a distinction here... as a dupe is an account that is used for cheating purposes... OR... to just be a right asshole... for more information on duplicate accounts and the whys and what forth’s of it... head to the wiki... http://wiki.prisonblock.com/Dupes

Bootleg...

A bootleg is at present a dvd that is bought from the likes of "Bootleg Joe" or other characters that are found in the search yard thingies. These are at present usually DVDs and can be confiscated by the warden, chucked into the bootleg bin and potentially bought by other players. If they are bought then they will be returned after a period of time. Some bootlegs are common and others are rare and prices vary depending.

Permanent Isolation... this is where a person ends up if they are banned.

Mental Breakdown... this is.. as far as I understand it... what happens when a person starts over (this may no longer be an option i aren't sure)

Firesale.... a firesale is when the warden puts up amenities from a banned persons cell or sometimes from his own sell for sale. You do not know what you will get and it is random... and usually spontaneous with no warning.
