Bootleg Bin FAQ

If you read what he wrote Su, he said if you have 10 dvds in theres 30% chance... ie 30 dvds = 90% no?

My god, I could kiss this woman. Or her math teacher.

yeah, i was commenting when Auminer said about taking them out individually rather than all at once...surely its the same percentage 3% each dvd...or am i missing something

Yes. 3% chance per DVD. If you added 30 DVDs manually, you'd run the same risk.

It is the same percentage though I had yet to hear that the singles stack the % just an ending result of 15% over time with 5 DVD's, because if they don't stack out of the 5 DVD's you have only taken a 3% chance. Your right it isn't rocket science, however just because it's basic math doesn't mean that a question cannot be brought up about it.

When switching cell presets, you should only ever have 1 DVD taken max, but if you've got 10 DVDs in that cell, you're taking a 3% chance on every one of those DVDs, so that's a 30% chance.
Lastly, it's getting really annoying having to argue with people over whether or not we're making changes solely to make money. First of all, this game needs to pay for itself and obviously we want to make money. We have functionality in the game that does make us money. We're happy with it. It stands though that this game is mostly free to play for most, and just because we introduce something you don't like, it doesn't mean we're just grabbing for money.
Let's face it though, if we introduce something to make us money (oh you know, like new amenities, cell upgrades, that whole chestnut?) we'd be perfectly within our right to do so and wouldn't feel ashamed of it one bit.
Primarily though, we (usually) enjoy just flexing our creative muscle and designing new shit (features, games, leah loves her avatar drawing etc). Working on PBlock is a good creative outlet for us amidst the other mundane stuff we do on a daily basis. Don't make us hate it.
Just a yes or no would be nice, this is in no way meant to argue.... you say if u pop 10 dvds in with a preset cell there would become a 30% chance...so would that mean if we had a cell with 30 DVDs in it (we prolly have that with 110 spaces max) i will have a 90% chance of losing a dvd?

Thanks. That was actually good enough for me.

That clears that up then.. its just 10 x 3% not that it stacks the percentage as such. Thanks,

Thank you Mu for the clarification.

Actually, you BENEFIT from using a preset. To be nice, Mu built it so that when swapping presets you wouldn't lose more than 1 bootleg DVD at a time. So if you plop them in one-by-one, you could lose any number of DVDs. If you use a preset, you'd lose 1 or 0. No more.
About this "stacking" thing. Statistically, you could say it stacks. Programmatically, each DVD confiscation is handled individually. So it doesn't go, "you have 10 DVDs, okay, 30% chance one gets lost." No, it goes, "okay, here are your DVDs. Let's go through each individually and see if any get confiscated..." Once a DVD gets confiscated, no others will get confiscated.
Long story short: manually adding DVDs will only hurt you.
