By June, reports of divisions within the alliance surfaced as only eight of the 28 member nations[65] were participating in combat operations, resulting in a confrontation between U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates and countries such as Poland, Spain, the Netherlands, Turkey, and Germany to contribute more, the latter believing the organization has overstepped its mandate in the conflict.[66][67][68] In his final policy speech in Brussels on 10 June, Gates further criticized allied countries in suggesting their actions could cause the demise of NATO.[69] The German foreign ministry pointed to "a considerable [German] contribution to NATO and NATO-led operations" and to the fact that this engagement was highly valued by President Obama.[70]

There were 18 countries involved

Obama's unauthorized war on Libya costs $9,421,000 a day: Are you getting your money's worth?

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2011/06/obama-libya-war-congress-authority-war-powers.html

....................................

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/jun/15/obamas-unconstitutional-libyan-war/

America was flung into a war that lacks congressional approval and fiscal discipline. The administration’s complete disregard for the Constitution has bothered many Americans, for the Constitution clearly states that it is Congress that has the power to declare war, not the president. The War Powers Act also clearly states that U.S. armed forces are to engage in immediate hostilities only if the circumstances are “pursuant to (1) a declaration of war, (2) specific statutory authorization or (3) a national emergency created by attack upon the United States, its territories or possessions, or its armed forces.”

Thus far, the United States has provided 93 percent of the cruise missiles, 66 percent of the personnel, 50 percent of the ships and 50 percent of the planes in this Libyan mission. The resources provided are estimated to cost roughly $700 million. I do not see any logic behind such expenditures. Why is America, in a time of economic emergency, spending $700 million to support a war effort that is not of any interest to our nation’s well-being?

it dont matter about it being a nato war...under that 1973 war powers resolution if the US has its forces engagned it needs to be approved by congress if it lasts longer than 60 days

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/libya-president-obama-congress-faces-questions-war-powers-act/story?id=13642002

Exactly two months ago, Obama notified Congress of his unilateral decision to engage in "limited military action" to help defend the Libyan people from attacks by their leader, Moammar Gadhafi.

But under federal law -- the War Powers Resolution of 1973 -- Obama is only allowed to keep U.S. forces engaged in hostilities for 60 days, unless Congress declares war, authorizes funding for the effort or extends the deadline.

Congress has not enacted legislation authorizing military involvement in Libya, and the White House has not made a public effort to comply with the rule.

Experts say this is the first time an American president has defied the War Powers Resolution's deadline for participation in combat operations without any concurrent steps by Congress to fund or otherwise authorize the role.

i know the congress is holding the PRESIDENT OBAMA down...that is their ploy and objective. That's why people try to say there is no change...

Penalize universities for raising tuition

make kids graduate or become 18 to get out of high school

reform illegal immigrants

rebuild the country, like he did the motor indusrty (ford and gm is a full go)

hold banks accountable for all the mistakes and bankrupting so many hard working americans.

NO more subsidizing! They charge us out the ass cause they know the gov will bail them out...fuck that...

we all need healthcare!

that pipeline deal needs to be reform because it contains flaws

Honestly... i don't know much about american politics... but i like obama... he is a shit load better than a lot of the other presidents you have had... and his wife seems down to earth and real too... he ain't a war monger.. and he seems to give a damn about poor people... (i could be wrong) ... he is a president in a real shitty economic environment and it is hard times to be a head of a government... but i likes him...

unfortunately people believe the president.actually controls the government

"presidents" are just the puppets, the face to distract people from knowing who really runs the government.

Any decision any president makes must be approved.

The economy didn't take 4-8 (2 presidential terms) years to get the way it is & Obama can't fix it in 4-8 years (1 or2 presidential terms). Didn't matter what president came in behind Bush.

The Roth's, Rocafellers etc has more power then the president(s).

"I care not who makes the laws but who controls the money" (can't remember who said that).

The discussion between politics & religion is never ending.

he had 2 years when the congress was controlled by the democrats...republicans gained the house because the citizens of the US didnt like the way obama was doing things...democtats and republicans are all responsable for the same things, they are in everything together and half of things are just talking points when they feel the same way and change nothin...its just atmosphere washington dc

how are universities penelized for raising tuitions? it is very expensive for colleges to operate and inflation causes the tuition to rise...but tuition rate has rison much more than it needs to but when there is such a demand for higher education they can raise the prices because there are people that will pay...go to a school you can afford...i got my associates degree from a community college and ill graduate from a state school in may...if you want to go to a private school then thats your problem if you want to pay high tuitions

illegal immigrants is hurting our nation...illegals are getting food stamps, health care, getting a free college educatin in some states when our citizens are struggling to provide food, pay their own health care, and to pay their way through school

i dont understand making people graduate high school because its not for everyone...if a student does not want to go to school they will just not go no matter what anyone says...they should know its for the best interest for them to graduate high school and get a college education because that will be the only way to make a better life for yourself but it should not be forced

obama gave the most cash ever for a bailout for the banks after they gave millions for campaign money, they were the ones who benefited from the things that caused the crisis and should be responsable for their mistakes, more bailouts to the auto companies after getting millions of campaign money...just like citizens get forclosed on or have to go bankrupt when they mess up and get no help, large companys should also have to play by the same rules and not get bailed out by tax payers

obama has spent billions subsidizing companies like solydra that go bankrupt after wasting millions of tax payer money...a company owned by someone who gave obama major contributions to his campaign...many green cars get subsidized and are not even selling making it a waste of money

we all need health care but obamacare is very flawed...major corporations get exemt from the rules...small business' are the ones hurt from it...y should someone be forced to pay for something they dont want to, it is an attack on the middle class with the way things are written in it now

the pipeline would create so many jobs...it will cause more pollution to transport the energy from canada to texas by train or vehicle than a pipeline would, there have been alternate paths of the pipeline available, i think there needs to be percautions that our water stays safe...technology has improved very much compared to the thousands of pipelines we already have built in our country...obama wants green energy to succeed thats why he does not want us to use our deposits of gas in our own country...it would be inefficient to subsidize all these green energy companys if the price of gas goes down

i think that there should be less government overall instead of them getting into everything...name 3 things in your life that are somehow uneffected by government
