If the Senate and House do not cooperate, he has absolutely no power. Oh, what's that, the Republicans in the Senate and House have not been cooperating? He had 2 years with a majority on both sides. He could have been passing bills like a printing press.

I think he pulled it from the Romney ad where he said he would fight back against the production monopoly that China has over the U.S. Which is stupid, because that implies that he would either [b]encourage slave labor in the U.S.[/b] or that he would decrease the profit margins of the companies funding him. Ok, say he puts tariffs on their products.

An item (let's call it the Goomba) costs $5 from China now. 5 cents goes to the worker, 5 cents goes into the materials required, and 50 cents goes to the factory owner. Government takes a dollar out, and the company is left with a $3.40 profit.

With a tariff, the company can either decide to take the loss in profits or raise their prices to accommodate the change. Most do the latter because of how the demand falls.

Move it to the U.S., where labor for the item costs $8, 5 cents goes into the materials, the factory owner takes 50 cents, and the government takes a dollar for tax. Current costs are $9.55. If the company wants to make the same profit, they mark it up $3.40, making the final price $12.95.

Production stays in China unless the tariff is about 150%. Then we'll be paying 250% what we originally paid for the same product.

Now, what part of that sounds good to you?

Majority is not enough to pass a bill.

2/3 majority is required, which Obama DIDN'T have.

So no, he couldn't have been passing bills left and right. That sounds like Republican propaganda aimed at those who are unfamiliar with congressional regulations.
